Edwin Poots, whose given name in Irish is Éadaoin Mac Pit and who was born on April 27, 1965, is a politician in Northern Ireland. In addition to being a member of the Legislative Assembly for the Lagan Valley constituency, he is also a member of the Democratic Unionist Party. Poots received his secondary education at Greenmount Agricultural College after completing his high schooling at Wallace High School in Lisburn. He is a family man and is now married with four kids. He was a member of the Lisburn City Council in the past and now works as a farmer. His grandfather, Charles Poots, was also a member of the DUP and ran for election to the Northern Ireland General Assembly for the Protestant Unionist Party in 1969.
