The Tennessee Titans, a professional American football franchise based in Nashville, Tennessee, have a storied history dating back to 1960 when they were initially known as the Houston Oilers, being one of the founding members of the American Football League (AFL). However, their identity shifted in 1997 as they moved to Tennessee, temporarily adopting the name Tennessee Oilers before settling on the Tennessee Titans in 1999.
