Omar Apolonio Velasco, also known as Omar Apollo, is an American singer and songwriter who was born on May 20, 1997.  Apollo performs songs in both Spanish and English. Apollo was raised in Hobart, Indiana, along with his three older siblings. He was born to Mexican parents.

In order to provide for their family, Apollo’s parents both held many jobs.  His family is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, in Mexico.  As a child, he trained in Folklorico ballet. Tangana, a Spanish musician, included a song about Apollo on his 2021 album El Madrileo called “Te olvidaste.” For Record of the Year and Best Alternative Song, the song won two Latin Grammy nominations. The track “Go Away,” which Apollo released in 2021, featured a music video and a live performance on The Tonight Show.

He subsequently released the song “Bad Life,” which featured Kali Uchis. This was their second time working together since the song “Hey Boy” from Apolonio. The single “Invincible,” which was co-written by Daniel Caesar, was published by Apollo in February 2022, along with the release date for his debut album. He released the singles “Killing Me,” which featured a live performance on The Tonight Show, and “Tamagotchi” the following month. The Neptunes produced and co-wrote the former.
