On May 12, 2014, MatPat launched a new channel called “filmtheorists” (later changed to The Film Theists). This series was similar to Game Theory, but it focused on movies and television shows rather than video games. By the time the announcement was made, 12 episodes of the new series had already been uploaded to the new channel. He released the episode “The Assassin’s Creed Shared Universe Conspiracy” on August 20, 2015.
At the end, he announced that he would begin live streaming on the channel for the first time on August 26 at 7:00 PM PST. He started the channel GTLive on September 14 and has been posting live streams there since October 9. On May 6, 2016, MatPat announced “Game Lab,” a YouTube Red internet show in which over 50 people gather to demonstrate what video games would be like in real life.
