On January 20, 1998, in Maryland, immigrants from Sierra Leone Constant (better known as Frances Sr.) Tiafoe and Alpina Kamara gave birth to Frances Tiafoe and his twin brother Franklin. His father came to America in 1993, followed by his mother in 1996, to escape the civil war in their nation. Tiafoe was ranked No. 2 overall in the International Tennis Federation’s global junior rankings before turning pro. At the ATP Challenger level, Tiafoe made his professional debut.
