About (Billie Joe Armstrong – Biography)

He became interested in music after his brothers introduced him to punk music. He attended Hillcrest Elementary School in Rodeo. When he was five years old, his teacher encouraged him to record a song called “Look for Love.” When he was ten years old, Mike Dirnt was a classmate. They became fast friends because they shared a love of music. He was heavily influenced by ‘The Replacements and ‘Hüsker Dü.’ His father died of esophageal cancer in 1982. His father gave him his first guitar, a Cherry Red Hohner acoustic. His mother bought him his first electric guitar from George Cole when he was eleven. He gave it the name ‘Blue.’ He attended Crockett’s Carquinez Middle School, John Swett High School, and Pinole Valley High School before graduating from Pinole Valley High School.

With his childhood friend Mike Dirnt, he formed the band ‘Sweet Children’ in 1987. They played guitar and bass, with drums by John Kiffmeyer and bass by Sean Hughes. Dirnt took over as bassist after Hughes left the band. In April 1989, they renamed their band ‘Green Day’ due to their marijuana addiction. In 1989, they released their first EP, ‘1,000 Hours.’ The following year, they released their debut studio album, ’39/Smooth,’ and an extended play called ‘Slappy.’

Both albums were Cool; Green Day’s new drummer took over for Sobrante on their second album, ‘Kerplunk.’ ‘Dookie,’ the band’s next album, was released in 1994 and sold over 60 million copies worldwide. Armstrong worked on tracks with a wide range of musicians. Among them are ‘Unforgiven’ by the all-female American rock band “The Go- Go’s,” ‘The Angel and the Jerk’ and ‘New Day’ by Penelope Houston, and ‘Radio’ by the American punk rock band “Rancid.”


Aside from producing albums for ‘The Riverdales,’ he was also involved in a project called ‘The Network,’ which was responsible for the release of ‘Money Money 2020’ on Adeline Records, which he co-owns.
