Voddie T. Baucham, Jr. is a preacher, writer, and educator from the United States who was born on March 11, 1969. At African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia, he is the dean of theology. Baucham, who was raised in Los Angeles, attended Rice University and New Mexico State University while playing tight end in football. He later changed schools and earned a B.A. at Houston Baptist University.  In the future, he attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to earn a D.Min. and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to earn an M.Div.

At the University of Oxford, Baucham also completed extra post-graduate coursework. In 1993, he established Voddie Baucham Ministries. Baucham supports the patriarchy seen in the Bible. In favor of what he terms “biblical justice,” Baucham rejects critical race theory and views it as a religious movement with its own cosmology, saints, liturgy, and laws. Baucham explores his concerns of the movement in his 2021 book Fault Lines: The Social Justice Movement and Evangelicalism’s Looming Catastrophe.  In Fault Lines, he makes the case that Critical Theory and its subsets, Critical Race Theory-Intersectionality and Critical Social Justice, are based on Western Marxism, that the public social justice conversation is spreading false information, and that Christianity, as a competing worldview, cannot coexist with Critical Theory and its subsets.

In August 2021, Baucham was charged with copying passages from the book and fabricating a remark that he claimed to be from Richard Delgado, a pioneer in the field of critical race theory.  While Delgado denied using such a quotation, the publisher, Salem Books, disputed the accusation of plagiarism, claiming that it was simply a question of style.
