Tiger Woods(Golf player)
Tiger Woods (Eldrick Woods) (born December 30, 1975, Cypress, California, USA) is an American golfer who dominated the professional circuit in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Woods won the Masters Tournament in 1997, becoming the first golfer of African American or Asian origin to do so. Woods became the first golfer to win successively the Masters, the US Open, the British Open (Open Championship), and the PGA Championship. Woods had an African American father and a Thai mother.
He began golfing at the age of two and shot a 48 over nine holes at the age of three. He won the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at the age of 15 in 1991 and again in 1992 and 1993. In 1994, he came back from six holes behind to win his first of three consecutive US Amateurs. In 1996, he won the collegiate title at Stanford University. Woods left college and turned pro on August 29, 1996, after winning his third US Amateur. In his first year on the PGA Tour, he won two tournaments and was voted Rookie of the Year. T. Woods T. Golf tee and ball striking putter (golf ball; golf club) Woods could create club speed to hit drives of beyond 300 yards. His booming long game, superb putting, and chipping, and mental tenacity made him an intimidating opponent and a fan favorite. Woods recorded a tournament-record 270 over 72 holes at 1997’s Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, to finish 12 strokes ahead of the field. After two decades, he became the first golfer to win eight PGA tournaments in a year.
His six wins in a row (1999–2000) tied Ben Hogan’s 1948 streak, the second-longest in PGA history (Byron Nelson has 11). In June 2000, Woods won the U.S. Open for the second time. Woods’ 15-stroke victory was the greatest winning margin at a major championship, tying Jack Nicklaus for the lowest 72-hole score (272). On July 23, 2000, Woods became the fifth and youngest player in golf history to complete the career Grand Slam by winning the British Open. (The four major tournaments in 1930 were the US Open, British Open, US Amateur, and British Amateur championships.

About (Tiger Woods– Biography)
Woods won the Masters and the British Open in 2005, ending a 10-year winless streak. The following year he dominated the tour, winning nine events including the British Open and PGA. In 2007, he defended his title at the latter event, winning his 13th major. Woods won his third US Open championship in his first tournament back on the tour in 2008, completing a career Grand Slam only Nicklaus had achieved.
A week after winning the US Open in a dramatic 18-hole playoff round, Woods withdrew from the 2008 golf season to undergo more severe knee surgery. In 2009, he won several tournaments but no big titles for the first time since 2004. In 2009, Woods lost the PGA Championship after leading by two shots going into the final round.
In November 2009, Woods was in a one-car collision outside his Orlando home. The crash’s peculiar circumstances drew media attention to his personal life. Woods, who married Elin Nordegren in 2004, had a number of extramarital romances, and his adultery became national news, clashing with the solid-citizen character that had helped him earn hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsements.
The following month, Woods said he was quitting golf to spend more time with his family. In April 2010, he returned for the Masters’s. Despite finishing fifth at both the Masters and the US Open, Woods’ 2010 golf season was a flop, with no wins and the worst four-round score of his career. He also divorced Nordegren in August of that year. In 2011, Woods failed to win a PGA tournament. On March 25, 2012, he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, his first PGA win in nearly 30 months.
Woods won the AT&T National in July 2012, passing Nicklaus for the second-highest career win total on the PGA Tour. A win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March 2013 tied him for the most career victories in one tournament and re-established him as the world’s number one golfer. Despite not winning a major in 2013, Woods’ five victories kept him atop the world rankings. In 2014, he only competed in nine PGA Tour events, finishing tied for 25th in his best finish. Woods’ golfing woes continued into 2015.
He played in only 11 events that year, missing the cut in two majors (the US and British Opens), and had to stop his season in September due to back surgery. Woods had a difficult recovery and missed the entire 2016 golf season. In January 2017, he played in his first PGA Tour event in 17 months. He only competed in one tournament before revealing he will need more back surgery and miss the rest of the 2017 season.
In May 2017, Woods was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence of sleep and pain drugs. He later admitted to getting “professional help” managing his prescription usage. Woods started in January 2021 that he had undergone his fifth back surgery and will not return to competition until April. In a single-car accident in February, he suffered major leg injuries. Woods was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump in 2019. Tiger, a TV documentary, later included him (2021).
