After moving to Palm Coast, Florida when he was four years old, Reilly Opelka was born in St. Joseph, Michigan. About (Reilly Opelka– Biography)

During the 2016 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships, Opelka made his ATP debut and lost to Sam Querrey, the fifth seed. Opelka reached the semifinals of the Atlanta Open in August after winning his first three ATP matches. In one match, he beat 203-cm No. 27, Kevin Anderson, saving two match points on Anderson’s serve. He also beat Nos. In the semi-finals, he lost to top seed John Isner. As a result, he was able to move up to position 300 in the ATP rankings by winning the Los Cabos Open and the Cincinnati Masters in the first round. With his outdoor season cut short by a foot injury, Opelka returned to the USTA Pro Circuit for the indoor season, where he won his maiden ATP Challenger title in Charlottesville to finish the year outside of the top 200. To begin the season, Opelka qualified for the Australian Open in 2017.

In the first round, he faced up against No. 11 seed David Goffin, with whom he battled for five sets before succumbing. This year’s only other ATP Tour victory came against fellow NextGen American Jared Donaldson at the Memphis Open. For Opelka, 2018 was a watershed year. He became the first American since Bradley Klahn in 2014 to win three ATP Challenger titles. In May, he won the Bordeaux Challenger for the first time this season. He won the Knoxville Challenger and the JSM Challenger back-to-back in November. Cary Challenger and Oracle Challenger were his other podium finishes. Opelka upset Isner once more in the New York Open in February, the route to his first ATP victory. In July, he made it to the third round of Wimbledon, when he beat Stan Wawrinka. It was his best Grand Slam result to date. It was throughout the summer and fall that he reached three semi-finals: Atlanta; Tokyo; and Basel. In November, he represented the United States in the Davis Cup Finals where he lost both of his rubbers.

He concluded the year with a global ranking of 36th. In February, Opelka won the Delray Beach Open for the second time in his career. Play resumed at the Cincinnati Masters after a lengthy suspension due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, and Opelka advanced to his first ATP Tour Masters quarterfinal. In the process, he defeated Matteo Berrettini for his sixth career top 10 victory. Rather than defend his Delray Beach crown, Opelka opted out. The Great Ocean Road Open was his first tournament of the year, however, he was eliminated in the second round by Biotic van de Zandschulp.

Opelka, the 32nd seed, advanced to the third round of the French Open by defeating clay-court specialists Andrej Martin and Jaume Munar. He then fell to Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals. He beat Steve Johnson and Jordan Thompson in the Atlanta Open finals with partner Jannik Sinner. As a result, on August 2, 2021, he became the No. 89 ranked player in the world in doubles. He lost to Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals of the same tournament in singles.

He beat Nick Kyrgios, 14th seed Grigor Dimitrov, Lloyd Harris, and 10th seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the Canada Masters in Toronto to reach his second Masters 1000 semifinal. To get to his first ATP Masters 1000 final, he defeated world No. 3 and No. 3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. It was also his first victory over a player ranked in the top five in the world.
