Olivia Thirlby Bio and Career:

Actress Olivia Jo Thirlby was born in the United States on October 6, 1986. She is most recognized for her performances as Judge Cassandra Anderson in Dredd, Natalie in The Darkest Hour, and Leah in the comedy-drama film Juno. Thirlby was born in New York City to a mother who worked in advertising and a father who was a contractor.   She was raised in Manhattan’s East Village and went to Friends Seminary in the Gramercy section of the city, where she graduated in the top five percent of her class of 57 pupils.  She also went to the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts and the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in upstate New York.

She studied at the American Globe Theatre and briefly at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she finished a course in stage combat with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. She is descended from Jews. Thirlby received a role in The Secret while still a senior in high school. She made both her cinematic and television debuts in 2006 with Kidnapped and United 93, respectively. Thirlby takes part in the Self-Evident Truths Project of iO Tillett Wright. Thirlby openly revealed her bisexuality in an interview with Brooklyn Magazine in 2011 and explained why she chose to take part in a photography project that focuses on people who are “everything than 100 percent straight.”

The three-match series between the She Cranes and the Vitality Roses is the team’s first matchup since finishing fourth at the Commonwealth Games this summer. Before some of their more seasoned players coming back for a tour to Australia, Thirlby has chosen a younger lineup for this series. Since they are a top-notch team and we had a few different combinations out there who had only recently met in camp, Thirlby added, “We knew it was going to be a little bit rocky.”

Alice Harvey of the Loughborough Lightning and Olivia Tchine, Funmi Fadoju, Zara Everitt, and Ellie Ratu of the London Pulse all made their international debuts at the contest. With the Netball World Cup coming up the next year, Thirlby has chosen a 14-player roster full of players eager to compete in the world arena. Sara Francis-Bayman, a former midfielder for England, thinks additional chances could be presented on Saturday.

Jess Thirlby, in my opinion, will make adjustments to the match-day 12 and bring in players from the 14 after which she’ll likely observe how long games last to determine how long combinations are deserving of continuing to play.

Except for Harvey, they all showed up after a difficult second quarter in which England’s seven players on the court were powerless to alter the outcome of the period, as Thirlby reported. The two people who were not present on Wednesday night were the attacking shooter Paige Reed and Natasha Pavelin. Nat Panagarry was the squad’s fifteenth member, but she had to leave before the series began due to personal obligations.

Due to visa concerns, Uganda will continue to play with fewer resources; they only have nine players available; however, their determination on the court and the 17-9 second quarter emphasized the challenge they will continue to present to England.

“Tactically, the girls were out there in quarter two knowing what to expect from Uganda. I left them to see if they could react quickly because I thought we were moving too slowly.

I felt that those who were watching from the sidelines deserved a chance to contribute, so I let them continue through the first half. Overall, they had a significant impact in the second half.

“I’m particularly happy about the efforts and those more familiar faces in fostering others’ growth in what is a successful debut for a number of gamers out there,” the author said.

England had a strong start to the first Test in Nottingham, but they faltered during a 17-9 second period when they were up against them. Thirlby quickly used up her bench after that, and a strong second half led to a 60-51 triumph.

She met Jacques Pienaar on the set of her 2012 film Dredd, and they have been married since December 28, 2014. England will play two more games in London’s Copper Box Arena this weekend; you can watch the second Test live on Sky Sports Arena starting at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday. On Wednesday, England defeated the She Cranes 60-51, but they lost the second quarter 17-9.

She portrayed Leah in Juno in 2007. She and her Juno co-star Elliot Page were set to play the respective main characters in Jack & Diane, a film about two young ladies who fall in love and cause one of them to develop lycanthropy. However, both actors withdrew before filming began, and the cast was repeatedly replaced.

She co-stars with Josh Peck in the mid-1990s period piece film The Wackness, winner of the Sundance Audience Award, in which she plays Stephanie, a marijuana-smoking “popular girl” from New York City. Amber Heard took Thirlby’s position as the character’s girlfriend in the stoner comedy Pineapple Express, which was produced by Judd Apatow and directed by David Gordon Green. On the animated TV series Good Vibes, she collaborated once more with David Gordon Green.

She performed in Beau Willimon’s production Farragut North at the Atlantic Theater Company in New York City, marking her theatrical debut. The Off-Broadway production took place on October 22, 2008, and November 29, 2008, with its official debut on November 12. In June 2009, it was moved to the Geffen Playhouse.

Bored to Death, an HBO sitcom from 2009, featured Thirlby. She lends her voice to promotional videos for Jay Asher’s book Thirteen Reasons Why, which have been routinely uploaded on YouTube since October 2008. She also made an appearance in the 2011 movie Margaret. She was cast in For Ellen, where it appears she declined a role, and Christmas in New York, even though those movies were never released.
