MK Stalin was born on March 1, 1953, in Chennai (formerly Madras), Tamil Nadu, India, to M. Karunanidhi’s second wife Dayalu Ammal. He was named after Joseph Stalin, a Soviet revolutionary and politician who died just four days after his birth. He began his political career at an early age and is currently participating in a number of initiatives. Throughout his political career, he has experienced several challenges and conflicts. He had a close relationship with his father, and he wrote him a heartfelt letter.

About (Mk Stalin – Biography)
M.K. Stalin’s political career began when he was still a teenager. Initially, he started the DMK Gopalapuram Youth Wing, which he and his pals ran out of a tea store. When he was just 14 years old, he also assisted his uncle Murasoli Maran in the 1967 elections. M.K. Stalin was later elected to the DMK’s General Committee in 1973.
During the emergency declared by Indira Gandhi, India’s previous Prime Minister, M.K. Stalin made headlines. After demonstrating against the Emergency in 1976, he was arrested and imprisoned to Madras Central Prison under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). Another DMK member and Stalin’s acquaintance, C. Chittibabu, died as a result of police injuries while he was in detention. During the situation, he was in his last year of college and passed his final examinations while incarcerated. Later, Stalin joined the DMK’s youth wing and was appointed youth wing secretary in 1982, a position he held for four decades.
Stalin’s political career was filled with ups and downs. He first failed to get a seat from the Thousand Lights constituency, but he eventually won the Assembly elections in 1989. The DMK administration, however, was removed before the end of its 5-year term in 1991. Later, Stalin ran for the Thousand Lights constituency in the Assembly elections, but was defeated by the AIADMK, led by Jayalalithaa. In 1996, however, he was re-elected to the seat.
In 2011, Stalin shifted his seat for the first time in his political career, moving to Chennai’s Kolathur district. Stalin was named Minister for Rural Development and Local Administration in the Government of Tamil Nadu after the DMK won the 2006 Assembly Election. During his term, he honed his administrative skills and assisted self-help organisations in strengthening the state. M.K. Stalin was later chosen as the DMK’s treasurer in 2008.
On May 29, 2009, former Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala recommended M.K. Stalin for the position of Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Later, on January 3, 2013, Stalin’s father, a politician, identified him as his heir apparent, putting an end to debate over who would lead the party after Karunanidhi’s death.
During the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, Stalin embarked on a state tour dubbed Namakku Naame, in which he appealed to the young. He was selected as the opposition leader during the AIADMK administration after winning his seat in the Kolathur constituency. Following the death of his father, Karunanidhi, Stalin was named president of the DMK in 2018.
