Kian Lawley and JC Caylen have been creating videos for eight years; an eternity in the YouTube universe. They met online in 2011. Caylen chuckled and continued, “Originally Kian was a fan of mine. I was doing great films and he was doing TikTok videos, before TikTok, and we simply became friends.”

Caylen remarked, “We were all so young, so we really didn’t really realize what was occurring. It was huge. We had a lot of folks that followed us. But that was lovely. We were like a family. It was incredibly enjoyable.”
After the group split up, they focused on their own channel: Kian And JC. They had an older demo, which provided them an opportunity to make a more mature comedy. Lawley remarked, “We’re growing up but our fans are too. We just met a fan, who was 20 or 21, and we asked her how long she’s been watching and she answered, ‘Since I was 11.’ That’s crazy!”

So we came up with Reality House.”

Lawley added, “We came up with the concept, then thought about it all night, and then published it on Twitter. We gathered our personnel, rented a place, shot it all in one day, and spat it out.”
Caylen added, “From the time we came up with the concept, to when we delivered our editor all of the footage, was one week.” They took a significant risk since they paid for all of this themselves; even the $25,000 award money. Once they began shooting, Seat Geek volunteered to sponsor the series. They are currently shooting Season 2.
